Types of Technology Implemented by Cross River Solar:

Solar Modules:
As a homeowner its important to understand that every solar panel manufacturer is different. Some panels save you more money then others simply by producing more electricity. Cross River Solar is committed to installing only the highest quality solar panels in New Jersey. Cross River Solar now exclusively installs solar panels from SolarWorld USA. We encourage a homeowner to ask where solar panels are from and how long the panel maker has been in business.
Cheaper doesn't mean a better value. We can show you how we will maximize your solar system's production and how the competition REALLY stacks up.
About SolarWorld USA:
With over 35 years industry experience
SolarWorld USA is America's largest solar panel manufacturer. SolarWorld employs over 3,800 people globally and creates panels which are consistently ranked as one of the top performers in independent 3rd party tests. SolarWorld was the first in the industry to introduce a linear guarantee. This 25 year linear warranty and 10 years of workmanship coverage attests to SolarWorld's willingness to stand behind their product more so then the competition. SolarWorld is proudly made in the USA-not just assembled here.
Racking and Roof penetrations:
Residential solar systems typically consist of
many roof penetrations in asphalt shingle roofs. You should Insist that your solar installer uses more then just roof caulk to seal roof penetrations. Roof caulk will fail in time due to the elements and heavy UV exposure. Cross River Solar procures numerous flashing kits and roof sealants locally through Allied Building Products- a leading distributor of high quality roofing products.. Protecting your home's roof envelope is important to us. Most roof leaks will occur outside your standard 5 year state mandated warranty. This translates to the homeowner paying for the repair bill when roof repairs and damages occur from leaks. Please make sure your installation goes beyond just drilling a hole in your roof and roof caulk.
Inverters:
We only use the highest rated efficiency inverters from
SMA Sunny Boy, Fronius or PV-Powered.

Types of Incentives Available for Homeowners:

Rebates and Personal Tax Credits:
New Jersey's Clean Energy Program administers the SREC approval program which helps drive the return on investment for your solar system. Cross River Solar is an approved contractor for the NJ Clean Energy Program. In addition to state incentives, each homeowner's system is eligible for a 30% Federal Tax Credit.
SRECs:
SRECs are a tradable commodity that every solar system owner in NJ can take advantage of. Every time your solar system generates 1000 kWh of electricity you are able to sell an SREC credit. These credits are bought by the utilities and sold by the system owners in New Jersey. There is no fixed amount associated with these credits as its based strictly on supply and demand market.
Regardless of where you live in NJ, you can count on these SREC credits as an income stream to help you offset the cost of your PV system. We encourage you to Investigate current SREC prices and make sure your contractor is using a conservative SREC value when they are forecasting your system's financial payback.

How do I start investigating solar?
Step One:

Investigate your home's electricity consumption and understand how many kWh's(kilowatt hours) you are consuming annually. Before solar, you should consider your home's overall energy use and find a few easy ways to chip away at your annual electricity consumption. Understanding your home's kWh consumption and the rate at which you pay is very important. This is the key piece of data that you should be providing your installer.
By taking small steps to reduce your annual electricity demands you will stretch your solar budget. Today there are many low-cost ways to reduce home energy consumption. The most common are to transition to CFL light bulbs, install programmable thermostats, use energy star appliances, insulation upgrades and so on. Cross River highly recommends an energy audit. A properly executed energy analysis of your home by a BPI certified professional is a low cost way to identify expensive energy losses within your home. Solar systems are a considerable investment. Why not offset that solar investment with easily remedied fixes and low cost solutions?

Step Two:

Start evaluating contractors. Cross River Solar spends a considerable amount of time with every client- both on and offsite. We are here to help our clients and build a long term relationship. We are a referral based business and our reputation, integrity and quality of workmanship are our most important assets. Use a NJ Clean Energy Approved Contractor and make sure you investigate the panels being proposed on your home on your own.

Step Three:

Once you have selected your contractor they should immediately begin the process of completing the required state and utility interconnection paperwork. Once these documents are completed the permitting process will begin. It doesn't hurt to educate yourself and understand if your town has any solar permitting requirements that you need to be aware of.

Step Four:

System Installation. Installing a solar system is the fastest moving part of the project. Make sure your contractor has pulled the appropriate permits as your rebate dollar are contingent upon the correct permits being filed. Even if your town doesn't require a permit for a solar system you will require a third party electrical inspection. Grant/rebate dollars are often not distributed without proof of final inspection.
